It is a great honor for King Abdulaziz University and Saudi Dental Society to host this International Conference for Dental Technology and Research. You came today to share with us your long and great experience in dental education and technology and I am sure that your discussions during the next few days will have a great influence on the development of the Dental Education and Technology. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to visit our dental school at King Abdulaziz University. For me it was an overwhelming experience to witness the progress of the dental school at King Abdulaziz since its beginning in 1985 till the present time. This progress of our dental school included continuous development in dental education, scientific research and community service. As you might know the dental school at King Abdulaziz University is recognized by the European Dental Society of Dental Education and it has been considered one of the competent dental schools in the Middle East regarding the infrastructure, the dental curriculum and the strategy for higher education. Our academic programme which has been designed developed by competent dental professionals is unique in the sense of the content and objectives. The integration of basic and clinical sciences added special merits to our graduates. These merits have been enforced by full utilization of the academic programme and facilities in the medical school and the university hospital. The strategy for higher education in Saudi Arabia is designed to provide a large number of scholarships to our graduates. Definitely this kind of strategy was of great help to build up highly qualified academic staff members. We are planning to initiate a link with international academic institution for twinning and quality control so we are looking forward to your scientific and technical cooperation to achieve our goals and objectives. Today we extend our hands with open mind and open heart for all of you to exchange knowledge, technology and expertise in order to maintain our common interest for developing dental education and technology. Also, I am extending my sincere appreciation to Professor Yousef Talic, the Chairman of the Saudi Dental Society and his colleagues at the society for their great participation in organizing this conference.
