The 16th March 2008 marked the opening of the Kuwait Dental Association International Scientific conference. Among the guests that attended, was the minister of health, Mr. Abdullah Al-Taweel on behalf of Sheikh Naser Al Mohammed Al Sabah. Mr. Al-Taweel gave a promising speech about the future goals and objectives of the ministry regarding the dental services in Kuwait. He emphasized on the need to institute additional specialty dental centers and polyclinics as well as providing the most efficient and latest equipment. These all help cater to the increased patient pool in Kuwait. The exhibition which was opened by Mr. Al-Taweel covered most of the newest and advanced dental equipment available to dentists today. Dr. Ibrahim Taqi, the acting head of the KDA, also gave a speech which mostly revolved around the importance of the scientific conference and the impact it has on constantly updating out dentists with the most recent equipment, methods and techniques. He further explained the goal of the conference in three fold points; One to update our dentists theoretically and clinically; secondly to serve as a social stop for dentists to meet and introduce themselves to one another; and finally to establish ourselves regionally and globally.
