As part of AEEDC conference, Prof. John Gunsolley, will chair a session on 9th March 2010 at 4pm on the following topic: ·Evidence Supporting the Efficacy of Anti-Plaque, Anti-Gingivitis Agents Evidence supporting the efficacy of anti-plaque, anti-gingivitis agents   There are various agents on the market that claim that they are anti-plaque, anti-gingivitis. Patients are often asking Do these anti-plaque, anti-gingivitis agents really work? The goal of this presentation is to provide up to date evidence about the efficacy and safety of these agents. Do they really work? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the various agents and what is the evidence supporting the efficacy and potential side effects of these agents. The evidence provided to answer these questions will be based on the latest systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Dr.John Gunsolley Dr. John C. Gunsolley's education consists of a B. S. in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University, D. D. S. from Indiana University and both a Master's degree in Biostatistics and a certificate in Periodontology from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is also a Diplomat of the Board of Periodontology. Dr. Gunsolley's academic career started at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1984 and he rose to the rank of professor in 1997. During his career he has participated in over 30 funded grants, authored 97 papers and 72 abstracts. He has received the Periodontal Clinical Research Award on three occasions and the Robinson Regeneration Award in 1998 from the American Academy of Periodontology. He has been a statistical reviewer for the Journal of Periodontology and is currently the statistical advisor for Journal of Clinical Periodontology. The focus of Dr. Gunsolley's research has been the design and analysis of periodontal clinical trials.
